Liverpool’s injury problems appear to be getting worse as Naby Keita limped out of training ahead of their UEFA Super Cup clash with Chelsea.

Manager Jurgen Klopp could be facing an injury headache after the midfielder went off the Vodafone Park pitch in Istanbul.

Daily Mirror journalist David Maddock suggested Keita’s knock was a ‘muscle problem’ and could be a recurrence of a previous injury.

Keita missed the final five matches of last season with a groin injury and also had his Africa Cup of Nations campaign with Guinea cut short after picking up an injury.

The 24-year-old sustained a minor abductor strain during the competition and was forced to return to Liverpool for further examination.

This comes just days after it emerged Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker could be out of action for up to six weeks.

Alisson definitely won’t feature against Chelsea after getting injured against Norwich

The Brazilian sustained a calf injury while taking a goal kick during the Reds’ Premier League victory against Norwich last Friday.

Liverpool, who are playing in this match because they won last season’s Champions League are favourites to beat Europa League winners Chelsea – and you can listen to the game LIVE on talkSPORT from 8pm.

Another absentee from the Liverpool squad is defender Dejan Lovren, who has not travelled with his team-mates amid rumours he’s on his way to Serie A club Roma in a £15million deal.

However, the Reds could welcome back forward Sadio Mane, who didn’t start the Norwich game as he made the AFCON 2019 final with Senegal.

And Mane believes he is ready for action despite his very short holiday.

Mane said: “Tiredness I think is here (points to his head).

“For sure I have been playing for a long time, I think I never have holidays now in seven years for more than 20 days.

“I’m used to it! For sure, I’m ready. I’m here. Let’s do it!”

Meanwhile, Klopp called on Liverpool’s worldwide fanbase to make their support known during the game.

Klopp said: “It’s brilliant (we have all these fans). We welcome them from all over the world. Seeing what CL win meant to them was a special moment. We need help tomorrow against Chelsea as they are strong – anybody who wants to help is invited!”
