This is significantly cheaper than the £30 limit the Premier League has on away tickets

French football’s governing body (LFP) is to introduce a €10 (£8.78) price cap on away tickets in Ligue 1 from next season.

The move, which was proposed during a meeting last week, would also see travelling supporters of Ligue 2 clubs pay just €5 (£4.39) for tickets.

A proposal for a single visitor rate for the top two tiers of French football will also be submitted to the LFP board on June 6, with every hope the new initiative will come into place for the start of the 2019/20 campaign.

If approved, the Ligue 1 away ticket price cap would be considerably less than the one first implemented in the Premier League from the beginning of the 2016/17 campaign, which caps away tickets at £30.

That agreement was extended back in February for a further three years, though it has not been extended into the lower divisions of English football, including the Championship.

And the EFL have no immediate plans to follow in the footsteps of the Premier League or the LFP by rolling out a price cap on away tickets.

“Singling individual cases out can often draw inaccurate conclusions,” an EFL spokesperson told the FSF in a statement.
